A Baldur's Gate FANtasy

Like so many others, Baldur's Gate 3 has brought me a lot of joy and peace, especially during hard times. In the early months of 2025, I was fresh out of surgery and things were looking bleak for my science writing career. Baldur's Gate was my escape.

I created a Druid who became my avatar—as close to my real self as it can get. Fiodhan became my proxy, fighting the evil that threatened to take over Faerûn while my world seemed to be falling apart. Through Fiodhan, I channeled my passion for the environment and nature and became the hero I most desperately needed.

Larian Studios created something magical with Baldur's Gate 3. It was a triumph of storytelling and technical mastery that raised the bar in the gaming world. Standing on the shoudlers of these giants, I am retelling their story through the eyes of my Fiodhan, expanding upon some of the nuanced subtlties of life and love that are lost in a gameplay environment.
